Gudrun Maybaum started working with parrots in 1993. It did not take long, before she started applying her nutritional and herbal knowledge to the flock she was carrying for.
Eventually she started writing articles and spoke at parrot conferences. This book contains a collection of those articles and her view on holistic parrot care.
The book covers themes like the nutritional and medical value of a variety of vegetables and herbs, what natural supplements can be used for parrots, how to convert a bird to a new food, why and how to feed seeds and much more.

“What Happened to My Peanuts?” BOOK REVIEW by Ann Brooks from phoenixlanding.org:
We have a new book in inventory, and it is fantastic! We hope you’ll pick one up at the next event, or when you attend our upcoming Nourish to Flourish cooking classes. Being a firm believer in “you are what you eat,” this is just the book we have needed. Gudrun is very articulate about the nutritional needs of parrots, and she has a wealth of knowledge and experience. This easy-to-read book explains how specific foods can benefit our birds, and how we can include these in our parrot’s daily diets. I hope you’ll keep this one on an accessible shelf.
